Understanding the Natal Chart

A natal chart (or birth chart) is a snapshot of the sky at the exact moment you were born. It’s made up of three key elements—Houses, Signs, and Planets—each playing a distinct role in the story of your life.

The Houses ( 1-12 ) : This is Where life happens

The chart is divided into 12 houses, each representing a different area of your life—like identity, relationships, career, home, and more. Think of the houses as the "stages" where life events unfold. For example:

The 1st house shows your sense of self and how you appear to others.
The 7th house shows your close partnerships and relationships.
The 10th house shows your public life and career path.

The Sign (Aries, Virgo, etc): This is How energy moves

Each house falls under one of the 12 zodiac signs, which color how the themes of that house express themselves. The signs show the flavor or style of energy—Aries is bold, Virgo is precise, Libra seeks harmony, etc. For example, if your 10th house is in Leo, your career path may involve creativity, leadership, or visibility.

The Planets (Sun, Moon, Rising, etc) : This is What is happening

The planets are the active forces—each one represents a specific drive or aspect of you:

The Sun is your core identity.
The Moon is your emotions and inner world.
Mercury rules your thoughts and communication.
Venus speaks to love, pleasure, and connection.
Mars governs desire, action, and assertion.
...and so on. Where each planet lands (in which sign and house) tells you what part of life it influences and how it expresses itself.
